Allison Beck, a native Texan, moved to Maine in 1980. The mother of three has been a social worker, entrepreneur, business owner, and artist. She has a degree in Sociology from Southwestern University. For the last 15 years she has worked as an estate gardener in the summer and an artist/sculptor in the winter. For 17 and a half years she volunteered at The Center for Grieving Children as a group facilitator and for 8 years she attended America’s Camp, a week-long camp in the Berkshires for children who lost parents on 9/11. Circle of Life Memorial Gardens is an organization which combines all of Allison’s interests: horticulture, sustainability, community responsibility and education and the way our culture deals with death. When not in the garden, workshop or artist studio she is spending time with her daughters and their families. She is the “Nannie” to three of the most wonderful grandchildren ever born and spends as much time with them as possible.
